It's been a rough week, Wizarding World. It might cheer some of you up to know that while I was in Kendall's this afternoon, I noticed a brilliant shoe sale!
That writeup was a little too short for the Prophet, maybe not the sort of thing they look for. But see? Not all news is bad news! |

Things seem to be slowing down a bit, for better or for worse. It's been so long since there's been an uneventful weekend, I scarcely knew what to do with myself. I hope that wasn't true for everyone, though from the journals of late.... I'll leave that to everyone to decide for themselves.
But, I went out and got something.

Guess where it went. |

In other news, I solved the hat issue. I know everyone was waiting with baited breath.

I guess I'll keep her around for a while more. |

I'm growing tired of winter.
I read somewhere once, that Stateside, muggles have a tradition where every February 2nd, groundhogs come out of their hibernation and emerge to the surface. If they see their shadows, they retreat back groundward and there will be six more weeks of winter. I rather fancy if we had that tradition in Britain, our winters would be much happier--and by that, of course briefer. Regardless, I'd be curious as to what the American rat has to say. Anyone else?
And they say divination's a lost art.
[Warded Privately to self]
What an extremely boring weekend in Hogsmeade. |

Tomorrow's morning edition should be an interesting read, I think. |

If gin's bad going down, it's even worse half coming up the morning after. Hair of the dog that bit you, I suppose. But damn. I can't find my worchestershire sauce. At least it's been a fairly tame weekend. I'd hate to miss out on the fun.
On the note of dogs, does anyone want a pomeranian? I think if there are no takers, I'll make her into a hat.
[Warded private] I think Trixie is out to get me. I realize these are old apartments and I'm rotten on cleaning, and there are a lot of places for bugs to move through, but I woke up again with a half-eaten roach in my bed. That dog is a hazard. |

Ministry Official's son sentenced to Azkaban
The air was electric Wednesday morning in the Ministry of Magic as the man who took the Ministry by storm was brought before the Wizengamot. Bartemius Crouch, Jr. rose from relative anonymity to being the only name worth dropping after his January 6th arrest for the murder of obliviator Seymour Watkins where it is said he used the Imperius curse to force a muggle to shoot Watkins with a muggle gun. After questioning, Crouch was also charged with the murder of Death Eater Gavin Avery, conspiracy to commit murder, treason, conspiracy to commit treason, espionage, and several lesser crimes.
At the trial itself, Crouch was eerily collected and near defiant as he faced off against his victims' families, the Ministry, and the world at large. Though he gave no further names, he at one point screamed "[Get some quote from Crouch's trial]." The Wizengamot responded with a life sentence in Azkaban, though spared him the Kiss--a testimony to the importance of blood. Curious minds must ask, would Crouch have been spared were his father not head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement?
How far does the corruption spread within the Ministry? His father, Bartemius Crouch, Sr., refused comment, but an inside source tells us, 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' |
